Vietnamese man sold his daughter, 13, to Chinese traffickers for $4,300 to pay for medical treatment
A Vietnamese father from the province of Nghệ An was sentenced to 14 several years in prison for selling his daughter to human traffickers.
Lo Pho Pheng, 47, offered his 13-yr-aged biological daughter to a man in China for around 150 million Vietnamese dong (around $6,550) when he lacked the cash to shell out for medical procedure for a heart problem.
Pheng met with Lo Thi Cam, 35, in 2018 to propose selling his daughter, who referred him to Moon Thi Xum, 46.
Xum and a person identified as “Hong” took Pheng’s daughter to China to be sold off.
Pheng was ready to obtain 100 million VND (about $4,367). Xum also acquired 7 million VND (close to $306), and Cam obtained 13 million VND (approximately $568).
Pheng’s daughter was ready to escape again to Vietnam in October 2021 when she submitted a denunciation of the criminal offense to the Investigation Police Company in the Kỳ Sơn District Law enforcement.
In the courtroom, the defendants pleaded responsible to their crimes. Pheng reported that he “did not assume straight” for the reason that of his lack of know-how and poverty-stricken problem.
Xum was sentenced to 13 several years in jail, when Cam was sentenced to 12 yrs. Despite the fact that the victim requested a lenient sentence for her father, he was sentenced to 14 yrs in jail for “trafficking of a person less than 16.”
